So my little cousin was playing minecraft on my desktop and somehow pressed shortcut keys to pull up my monitors menu to brightness, contrast ect. I can not get it to go away. Its a blue box in the middle ofmy screen with icons all around in the bright blueedge of the square and the middle of it displays what option i am on. My monitor only has a power button and arrow buttons where the only one i have do anything is the down arrow on it.
It has some kind of rolling wheel thing under it that looks like it maybe volume.I have tried turning the monitor off, it wont unless i unplug it. I have tried turning the computer off. I have disconnected the monitor from the tower and still the menu persists. I have been looking for the shortcut key he pressed on google for well overan hour now and do not know what else to do. Hi Jacquelyn,Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.
What is the make and model of the monitor? If you are referring to monitor menu, buttons to change monitor screen settings are generally on the monitor itself. It may not be visible from front, however, you may check side panel of the monitor or at the back. You may refer to the manual of the monitorif you have or if you know the model number of the monitor, you may search online for its hardware buttons. You can try disconnecting the VGA cable from back of the monitor and re-plug.You may also contact the manufacturer of the monitor to find so.Hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reply in case you face any other issues with Windows in future.
Regards, Niranjan Manjhi. Thank you for replying so quicklyIt is a planar, PL1700M. I have tried to disconnect everything from it and it persists. I dont have a physical copy of the manual because it was a gift from my brother and kind of a hand me down monitor. I did locate a manual pdf online and read it but ican not seem to use the buttons on the monitor which is odd because i turn it off nightly with my computer and it wouldnt even power off when i pressed power.
Only one button was allowing me to move through the menu. The rest seemed like they were broken. When it first popped up on the screen, my cousin pressed a lot of random buttons on the keyboard.
I have no idea at this point if it was him or just the monitor chose that particular moment to start doing that.I ended up messing with it and did manage to get the menu off for a little bit but it came back. Im hoping i do not have to buy a new one because i can not afford it this time of the year.
